How to use Array Builder
- Use the plus and minus buttons on the right to change the rows and columns.
- Choose Counters or Squares. Squares build the array from equal tiles inside a rectangle.
- Choose Multiplication or Division. For division, choose Sharing or Grouping so the language matches the array.
- Watch the array, product, turnaround fact and related division fact update.
- Tap the first row or first column to turn that counting guide blue. Tap it again to return it to red.
- Use New Question at the top of the right-hand controls to ask pupils to build a fresh multiplication fact.
- Press Check when the shown array matches the question.
- Print creates four copies of the current array on one A4 portrait page.
Use the tool to show that 3 × 4 and 4 × 3 have the same product, and to connect rows and columns with both meanings of division.
